Quang Tri Province: Progress towards clean water access by 2030  

AICS Hanoi confirms that the project has continued a historical development cooperation between Vietnam and Italy in the water sector, and always willing to support PMU and local community in gaining the most fruitful results.

Hanoi – On the 25th of June 2026, a monitoring mission by AICS Hanoi Office was conducted to Cam Lo commune, Quang Tri province to assess the implementation progress of the project: “Water resources management and clean water supply in three mountainous communes – Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, Cam Lo District, Quang Tri”  funded by the Vietnam- Italy Debt for Development Swap Program.

The Aics Hanoi delegation met with the representative from the Quang Tri Department of Finance,  the People Committee of Cam Lo commune, Cam Lo Commune Project Management and Land Fund Development Board (PMU).

During the meeting, local authorities and the PMU highlighted the strategic importance of the project in contributing to Quang Tri Province’s objective of providing 95% of its population with access to clean water by 2030, in line with the national development strategy. The PMU also emphasized the strong support received from local communities, which recognized the project’s long-term benefits in improving access to safe and reliable water services.

The AICS Hanoi mission also received updates on the implementation progress of the project as well as the difficulties and proposal from the PMU for the next implementing year.

The mission visited the construction site of the Level 1 pumping station, Level II pumping station, as well as along the installed water pipeline system in Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia and Cam Lo District. Both pumping stations are in the progress of site clearance, and the amount of water pipeline installation work has achieved 20% as of June 2026.
