On 14 August 2026, a delegation from the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, in central Vietnam, led by Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, met with Dr. Margherita Lulli, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Hanoi Office.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the long-standing cooperation between Quang Tri Province and the Italian Government, particularly in the framework of the ongoing Italy- Vietnam Debt for Development Swap Programme. It also marked the official introduction of Mr. Hoang Nam to AICS Hanoi in his new role as Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and as the official responsible for projects funded through Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Quang Tri Province.
The two sides reviewed the progress made during the first year of implementation of two ongoing projects under the Vietnam–Italy Debt for Development Swap Programme:
- Improving the Capacity of Solid Waste Collection and Treatment to Protect the Environment and Adapt to Climate Change in the Northern Region of Quang Tri Province
- Water Resources Management and Clean Water Supply in Three Mountainous Communes: Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia and Cam Lo, Cam Lo District, Quang Tri Province;
The discussion focused on the results achieved and the progress made during the first year of implementation, including training initiatives for the units responsible for project implementation and progress in the construction of the water supply network in the communities concerned.
The Quang Tri delegation visiting AICS Hanoi also included representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Finance, the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee, and the Cam Lo Commune Project Management and Land Fund Development Board, as members of the project management unit.
The meeting confirmed the strong and fruitful cooperation between Quang Tri Province and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, as well as their shared commitment to promoting sustainable development, environmental protection, improved public services and a better quality of life for local communities through the effective implementation of international cooperation initiatives.
