Environment and Land Use
AICS Hanoi is committed to mainstreaming environmental and climate considerations across all its development cooperation initiatives, both at the regional level, within the framework of the Italy-ASEAN Development Partnership and programmes supporting PSIDS, and at the national level, particularly in Vietnam and the Philippines through initiatives funded under the Debt Swap Programmes.
Governance
AICS Hanoi Office plays a key institutional coordination role across its countries of competence and at the regional level, contributing to the effectiveness and coherence of both Italian and international development cooperation efforts.
Health
AICS Hanoi operates in Vietnam through a concessional loan initiative covering three provinces in the Central Region, aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure and strengthening public health institutions.
Humanitarian Aid and Fragile Contexts
Italian Development Cooperation operates in fragile contexts and humanitarian crises caused by conflict, violence, natural disasters, climate change, and extreme poverty. In such environments, disasters exacerbate humanitarian needs while reinforcing the underlying drivers of economic, social, political, and institutional fragility.
Rural Development and Food Security
ASEAN promotes initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of agrifood systems, improving rural livelihoods, and ensuring more equitable access to food. Italian Development Cooperation contributes to these objectives through regional initiatives that support innovation, knowledge transfer, and cooperation among ASEAN Member States.

The Office's work is structured around three strategic priorities: ensuring access to safe drinking water and basic water, sanitation and hygiene services (WASH); securing the availability of water resources for domestic and productive uses; and promoting the protection of water resources and ecosystems through Nature-based Solutions (NbS).
