International Cooperation for sustainable development, human rights and peace is an integral and qualifying part of foreign policy. The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, under the supervision of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation-MAECI, has a broad capacity for action in this sector thanks to its autonomous legal personality, budget, and structure.
AICS Hanoi is an integral part of Team Europe, a collaborative approach uniting the European Union, EU Member States, and key actors to address development priorities with transformative impact. Through Team Europe Initiatives (TEIs), AICS Hanoi works alongside the EU and other partners to deliver coordinated and results-driven solutions, combining resources and expertise for maximum effectiveness. The partnership with the EU embodies the shared ambition to promote sustainable development, aligning European priorities with Southeast Asia Countries needs to achieve lasting change.
The International Community has approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, whose essential elements are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 sub-goals, which aim to end poverty, fight inequality and achieve social and economic development. They also include aspects of fundamental importance for sustainable development, such as addressing climate change and building peaceful societies by 2030.
Italy was among the first Western European countries (the first of the then EEC) to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, on 23rd March 1973.
