Final event of component “Weather forecasting model and flood forecasting model” of project “Strengthening the flood forecasting and warning system in Vietnam”

On September 21st-22nd, 2020, the Hanoi office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation will co-organize – together with the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Observation – the final event of the component “Weather forecasting model and flood forecasting model” of project “Strengthening the flood forecasting and warning system in Vietnam”. This event will take place in the Vietnamese provinces of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan.
The initiative will contribute on securing people and territories of the Central-South regions of Vietnam from natural disasters caused by typhoons and tropical storms. This initiative is part of a wider range of interventions, carried out by the Italian Cooperation in Vietnam, in the environmental and natural resources management sector.
As part of the event, an opening ceremony will be held to present the results of the development cooperation projects carried out by AICS Hanoi in the Central-Southern regions of Vietnam. The activities carried out under the project “Strengthening the flood forecasting and warning system in Vietnam” include the implementation of an environmental monitoring and early warning system for flood control, which will contribute to the security of the territories and populations of the Central-Southern regions of Vietnam. This project has been financed with an aid credit of four million Euros, and the activities have been implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Italian company CAE.
The opening conference will be held in the presence of H.E. Dante Brandi – Consul of Italy, Dr. Martino Melli – Director of AICS Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung – Senior Programme Coordinator of AICS Hanoi, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, and representatives of CAE Group.
The opening ceremony will be available in streaming as part of the 2020 Festival of Sustainable Development organized by ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development).
